“The Eagle Brand” – any information?

I recently bought this beautiful razor made in Germany.
It is nickel plated, 6/8, and the vendor says “plus hollow” which I don’t know exactly what this means (full hollow?), anyway to me it seems something like ¾ hollow.

Engraved on the tang is the word “Extra Hollow Ground”
On the reverse is “Made in Germany
On the blade there is “Eagle Brand”& an Eagle


I have no information about the manufacturer. If you have any information please post it.

My guess (and it's only that) is it was made by a generic razor maker and he put that name on it for sale by a specific retailer.

I have seen those from several different brands, I am sure it is OEM .
Those are very nice shavers none the less.

Is it possible to figure out who might be the original razor manufacturer?
Or should I just consider it a no-name Solingen?

Isn’t it strange that in is nickel-plated?
I haven’t seen many.

I have seen many, with different brand names associated. I happen to have a Dixon 'Improved Eagle' razor that looks identical, except Dixon put their trade mark on the tang.

I wonder if it was some kind of one time production run, a commemorative issue of some sort.

Nope, I'm sorry those are the best I have right now... You can hardly see the etching anymore, but it is identical to yours except the working has been changed from 'Eagle Brand' to the 'Improved Eagle Brand' from Dixon.

My guess is they are generic Solengen blades that are blanked out to individual vendors. This one is a Dixon, which is the only Dixon I have.

Thank you for the compliment!! The are burled maple my good friend Don Belanger made because we have matching eagle razors, and he made matching scales for our eagles. I also have a matching silvertip brush custom made by WillN for me to match to this razor.

It is a fantastic shaver. One of my favorites in fact. I have about 30 shaveable razors and this one is in my top 8 rotation along with a Dogbone W&B that Don finished for me also! That one is in crosscut maple and is considerably darker (redder).

I love my eagle! They are just good old Solengen steel.

Hi Slur! Indeed that would be considered a 'full' hollow, not extra ground though. This one is just barely a full, almost closer to a 3/4 hollow, but I believe the intention was to be a full hollow ground.

Call me Hammer, or Mike, whichever your comfortable with would be fine.

My eagle was in really rough shape when I got it. Pits all over, bad rust on the tang. It almost completely wiped out the etching just trying to get thru all the rust and patina. But, she came out really nice, and Don finished it off with those beautiful scales. I really love my eagle, and I don't think I would trade her off for a lot of other high name razors. Not a henckles or a Dovo for sure. I might consider trading it for a huge W&B but that would be about it. I like it better than many of my razors that cost 10 times as much. I got my eagle for 12$ to start with and now she's valued over 100. They are great shavers and wonderful collectors.

I know of at least 3 brandings of the Eagles. 1 had no branding at all, like yours, mine is a Dixon and Don's was a J,B & H (or something really close to that, my memory sucks).

Anyway, I love mine. It's not near as nice as your is either!!! Keep that baby nice and she will serve you well for a long time!!
